Trigger Finger Release

Trigger Finger issues in my right hand pinky have been limiting my activities over the past 2 years. Mainly golf. About a year ago I got a cortisone injection at the U of U which relieved the condition for about 6 months. Around November of last year I noticed it was coming back and this time it was more limiting and painful. While seeing Dr. Chappell for a bilateral CTR I mentioned it to him and inquired about another injection this time at their facility. He mentioned that if I could wait until March that they were coming out with a minimally invasive procedure similar to their CTR using the Sonex trigger finger release device. Around March 1st, Dr. Chappell's office called and let me know the device was available and I immediately scheduled the procedure. It has now been 3 weeks post procedure and it is feeling much better. The trigger was released immediately and I was back to work the next day (could have gone into work the same day, but why.....). No blood, no scar, no pain, no problem. It also helps that Dr. Chappell has perhaps the best "bedside" manner of any of the dozens of doctors I have seen over my lifetime and I believe that he is truly driven by the love he has for his profession. I would strongly recommend their new method of Trigger Finger Release ("TFR" I assume), and of course having it done by Dr. Chappell.

Carpal Tunnel Release

Natalie shares her recent experience of receiving a carpal tunnel release using the Sonex SX-One MicroKnife. She is a teacher and mother to young children and did not have time to take off for recovery. This procedure allowed her to get right back into normal life rather than having a long recovery period.

Carpal Tunnel Release

“I've had multiple treatments done and each one has provided relief after the years of chronic pain… I couldn't be happier with the easy recovery versus the recoveries I've had with traditional or endoscopic surgeries.”

There is Always a Reason

If there is pain or dysfunction, there’s also a reason.

That's why I love musculoskeletal medicine!  It is not uncommon that I will see a patient with “hip pain” and the problem is in the sacroiliac joint. Or I will see someone with pain radiating down their leg all the way to their foot and their problem is a ligament in the low back connecting the spine to the pelvis. It is this kind of detective work that excites me and keeps me digging for more.

I have been blessed and fortunate to work with some of the world’s best in my field and now I am able to travel nationally and internationally to teach the things that I have learned. Whether it’s teaching a patient about what it’s going to require to get better, or teaching a colleague a new interventional technique, it all keeps me going and wanting to learn more.
